Have you ever misplaced your credit or debit card? Maybe worse, it’s been stolen, and someone else is using your card without your permission. Or you’re traveling and trying to purchase something, and the transaction doesn’t go through. We’ve all been there! Here are a few tips to help keep your finances safe the next time something happens to your card.
Locking your ProFed card is a temporary action that any member can perform. When you lock your card, it means that no one can use your card. If you were to try and use it when it's locked, the purchase or transaction would not go through. We recommend that you lock your card when you misplace or lose it. Locking your card is temporary; you can unlock it just as quickly as you locked it.
Misplaced card? Check for it in the tiny spaces of your vehicle, under the seat, or in the extra pockets in your bags, purses, and pockets.
How to Lock Your Card
ProFed makes it easy to temporarily lock your ProFed debit or credit card when you misplace it. Visit ProFed Digital Banking on your desktop or mobile device, go to Cards in the menu, choose the specific card you want to lock, and click on Lock Card. A screen appears that lets you know that it could take a few minutes before transactions made with the card are denied. To complete the temporary lock on your card, click Lock. If you find your misplaced or lost card, you can unlock your card using the same steps.
Blocking your ProFed card is more of a permanent action and can only be performed by the ProFed Card Services department. When you block your card, much like locking your card, it means no one can use your card. Blocking your card is different from locking your card because the member cannot undo this action. We recommend blocking your card when it is stolen or you have seen fraudulent activity. Call 260-373-1632 or 800-752-4613 ext. 1632, and a ProFed representative will assist you in blocking your card. The card will stay blocked until its expiration date, and our team will work on getting you a new card.
If your ProFed card is damaged and no longer works, you can submit a request to reissue your card. Please know that reissuing your card will not deactivate your card while your new one arrives in the mail.
How to Reissue Your Card
Visit ProFed Digital Banking on your desktop or mobile device, go to Cards in the menu, click on desired card and click on Damaged Card. Select why you are requesting us to reissue this card from the drop-down menu and click Submit. The cards are sent out through USPS and mailed within 24 hours.
Are you traveling soon? Notify ProFed! It can be frustrating when your card doesn’t work when you’re far from home, so help eliminate that by notifying ProFed when traveling. When you notify ProFed of your travel plans, it helps minimize the chances of your debit or credit card being blocked or flagged for unusual activity.
